Abel is a life-long firearms enthusiast and collector. His love for coating and creating unique pieces stems from a childhood of doodling, drawing, and painting, as well as several years of basic and advanced art classes. During his college years, he majored in film, and worked as part of a student film crew, as a cameraman, writer and storyboard/concept artist. Unfortunately, the film industry is very much a "who you know," field, and in mid 2007, Abel decided to relocate closer to his family, and made the move from Los Angeles, CA, to San Antonio, TX. It was that same year that an opportunity to work for the Department of Defense presented itself, and Abel would spend the next 6 years working with various agencies and living in Herat, Afghanistan as a K9 Handler. It would be in the long, boring hours under the Afghan sky that Abel began to entertain the idea of becoming a Cerakote applicator, and making a move that would bring him back home to San Antonio.

Tara (aka Mrs. Sara Kote) is a retired Army Critical Care Nurse. During her time in the service, she was stationed at multiple military bases across the United States including William Beaumont Military Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and San Antonio Military Medical Center. She deployed in 2009 with the 47th CSH in Al Asad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom working as a nurse in the Emergency Room. In 2011, she served with the 115th CSH in Herat, Afghanistan working at a Role II Spanish hospital on a NATO base. It was during this second deployment that she met her now husband Abel. In August 2016, she became a Certified Cerakote Applicator through NIC Industries. It wasn't until her retirement in the beginning of 2018, that she started working full-time as an applicator. She now produces most of our custom camo designs and intricately detailed pieces.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHOSE ROMAN ARMS?
Roman Arms is one of the few factory certified remote certification facilities. This means that we are tasked with providing factory training and certification to business owners across the nation.
We also believe in always continuing to improve our craft. As such, we return to NIC Industries approximately every year and a half. This allows us to collaborate with the creators of the products we apply. We can remain at the cutting edge of innovative techniques and products offered. In October 2019, Roman Arms became the first Certified Applicator to earn "Elite Team" status from NIC. And in October 2020, RA became the first official site for Certified Applicator Training to be offered in the United States other than NIC's hub in Oregon.

When you select Roman Arms, you are getting over seven years of experience and a female and male perspective on every project. We often joke that we see colors differently.

While no finish is impervious, we guarantee our work against chipping, cracking, or flaking off. We can educate you on the best coating for the job.
